If you are coordinating a move with a partner, kids, or helpers, you probably want one shared inventory — not three separate Sharpie systems. We researched which moving and box-tracking apps actually offer multi-user sharing, what it costs, and what else you get in the bundle.
Short answer: shared inventory is more common than we initially assumed. Sortly, Everspruce, Scan Your Boxes, and others offer it. The differences are pricing model, scope (business vs. household), and whether photo cataloging, QR labels, voice notes, and search ship together.
Comparison at a glance
| App | Has sharing | What it costs | Also includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| BoxBuddy | Yes | Owner: Family plan $29.99/yr. Invited members: free. | Photo cataloging, QR labels, voice notes, keyword search — built for household moves. |
| Sortly | Yes | Paid required for any extra user; scales 2 → 5 → 8 → 12+ by tier. | Business inventory tools; not a moving-first QR + voice workflow. |
| Everspruce | Yes | Free up to 4 total users / 50 entries; paid removes entry cap. | Home-inventory focus; narrower moving-day bundle. |
| Scan Your Boxes | Yes | Owner pays; invitees free; team tiers up to 15 users. | Box scanning focus; confirm photo/voice details for your workflow. |

What to look for beyond "sharing yes/no"
- Who pays? Some apps charge per seat (Sortly). Others let invitees join free (BoxBuddy, Scan Your Boxes).
- Separate accounts or one login? Household moves work better when everyone has their own account on the same move — not a shared password.
- Moving-day tools bundled? QR labels anyone can scan, photos inside sealed boxes, voice notes while your hands are full, and keyword search at the new house.
- Scope. Business inventory apps excel at SKUs and warehouses. Moving apps excel at rooms, box numbers, and unpack chaos.
App-by-app notes
Sortly — Team sharing is real, but it sits inside a business pricing ladder. If you need two people packing a home move, you are paying for a product designed for small business inventory. QR scanning typically requires the Sortly app.
Everspruce — A generous free tier for small households (4 users, 50 entries). Good for light home inventory; confirm it matches a full-house move with dozens of boxes.
Scan Your Boxes — Owner-paid model with free invitees resembles BoxBuddy's household economics. Compare photo catalog depth and search UX for your move size.
BoxOrganizer — Lists collaboration features; we could not confirm collaboration pricing from public pages alone.
Boxes & BoxLynk — We mark these "not confirmed" because absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Check their App Store listings before you decide.
SmartBox Organizer — Sharing appears on a roadmap, not in a shipping feature set yet.
Where BoxBuddy fits (without pretending we are alone)
We built BoxBuddy Family Sharing for households: the owner on a $29.99/year Family plan sends email invites; invited members join free. Everyone gets photo cataloging, QR labels, voice notes, and keyword search on one shared move — the same workflow we use for solo moves, extended to the whole crew.
That is the honest pitch: not the only shared inventory app, but the most complete consumer-priced bundle for families moving together. If another app matches your workflow better, use it. If you want move-specific QR + photos + shared search in one plan, that is what we optimize for.

Is Everspruce free for families?
Everspruce includes sharing for up to 4 total users and 50 entries on the free tier. Paid tiers raise the entry cap. BoxBuddy's free tier covers 10 boxes for solo use; invited members can join a shared move on free accounts when someone with Family invites them.
